deification

deification
This word (from the Latin dios, meaning "god" or deity," and facere, meaning "to make") refers to making aperson like God. This idea, which is found in the writings of Greek theologians, emphasizes the grace-given potential ofhuman beings to become godlike. Like the term "divinization," "deification" is a theologically acceptable term if it is understood to mean that a human person comes closer to God through the interior working of divine grace; the term is theologically unacceptable if it is understood to mean that a person becomes a god.
